AI, influence and the future of your practice

Event Description

AI is entering legal practice quickly, but the way it is ultimately used will not be determined by technology companies alone.

In this episode of InFocus, Sandra Falzon, Chief Marketing Officer at InfoTrack, is joined by Jaimie Burreket to explore the role practitioners themselves can play in shaping how AI becomes part of legal work.

The conversation will look at where practitioner influence actually sits identifying the right problems to solve, questioning where AI should be trusted, giving meaningful feedback, setting professional boundaries and ensuring new technology reflects the realities of client work.

It will also examine why influence does not depend solely on firm size, seniority or technical expertise. A practitioner in a boutique firm, a junior lawyer in a larger practice or an experienced conveyancer can all bring knowledge that technology teams and vendors may not have.

The discussion will explore both sides of participation in AI: where practitioners should be willing to experiment and where professional judgement should lead them to challenge, constrain or reject a new approach.

At its heart, the episode asks:
As AI becomes more embedded in legal work, who should have a say in deciding what it does, and what it should never replace?

*If you are in the legal industry you can claim 1 CPD unit per hour for InfoTrack seminars under practice management and business skills. Practitioners residing in WA cannot claim CPD points from InfoTrack training through the Legal Practice Board of Western Australia.

As CPD requirements vary between professional associations, the onus is on the attendee to engage with their relevant professional association/body to determine whether participation in this workshop can be counted towards their profession’s CPD requirement under their accrediting body.

We will provide a certificate of attendance that outlines the session duration and learning outcomes, which you can use to support your own assessment towards meeting the CPD requirements
