Introduction to AML/CTF compliance for new entrants

Event Description

The Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) Amendment Act 2024 introduces significant compliance requirements for law firms and conveyancers, with obligations taking effect from 1 July 2026. Given the short timeline and increasing demand for AML/CTF expertise, it’s essential to start preparing now.

We are working on readying InfoTrack software to be compliant ready for any additional checks you will need to conduct. We are also committed to your firm’s ongoing education and training in relation to the regime and we will be releasing training for your firm in the coming months.

We are also thrilled to announce that we are working with Grant Thornton to help your firm understand these new obligations and how to implement a compliant AML/CTF framework.

Key takeaways:

  • Customer due diligence (CDD) and verifying clients’ identities.
  • Reporting suspicious transactions to AUSTRAC.
  • Maintaining transaction and client interaction records.
  • Implementing a risk-based AML/CTF compliance program.

Neil will provide practical guidance tailored to law firms, conveyancing practices, accounting firms and real estate agencies, ensuring you’re equipped to meet the deadline.
