AML/CTF myths, busted: Straight answers from the advisers behind AUSTRAC's own guidance

Event Description

Since Tranche 2 obligations landed on 1 July 2026, InfoTrack has heard the same handful of misconceptions raised again and again. Some of these myths lead to unnecessary work. Others create genuine compliance risk. Either way, they are costing your business time, client goodwill, or both.

In this session, Richard Storey, Partner in Risk Consulting at Grant Thornton, and Mateus MacKenzie, Product Specialist in AML/CTF at InfoTrack, work through the most common myths in circulation and set out what AUSTRAC’s guidance actually says in each case. Richard brings close to three decades of financial crime risk and compliance experience, and Grant Thornton’s team worked directly with AUSTRAC to help develop the Program Starter Kits now used across the Tranche 2 sectors. Together with InfoTrack’s operational view from thousands of client conversations, this session pairs the regulatory reasoning with the practical reality of applying it day to day.

You will leave with a clear, practical reference for handling these situations correctly, plus the opportunity to put your own questions to both speakers during live Q&A.
