Victoria Market Update

Victorian buyers remain consistent in location choices

  • Melbourne has taken out the top spot within the Top 10 list, showing its consistent popularity with purchasers from 2023 and leading into Q1 2024.
  • From Q4 2023 to this quarter, the first seven locations within the Top 10 have remained the same quarter-on-quarter.
  • Cranbourne, south-east of Melbourne’s CBD, is the only new entrant on the list slipping in at 10th place.

South Australia Market Update

Adelaide’s northern suburbs proven popular in Q1

  • Mount Gambier, a city in the southeastern corner of South Australia, has taken out the no1 spot in the Top 10 for Q1.
  • Located close to the Victorian border, Mount Gambier is already known as one of the most populated cities in SA and, with the top positioning in early 2024, continues to grow in popularity.
  • Suburbs north of Adelaide CBD featured heavily in the Top10, including Munno Para, Munno Parra West, Craigmore, Davoren Park, Andrews Farm and Paralowie.

Western Australia Market Update

Yanchep the best of the west

  • Yanchep, an outer coastal suburb north of Perth, has taken out 1st place within the Top 10 for Western Australia in Q1.
  • Other northern coastal locations featured include Alkimos in 3rd position and Eglinton in 7th

Industry opinions on First Home Buyer activity

In New South Wales Greater Western Sydney has continued to dominate the Top10. We saw another two postcodes named in the list which didn’t appear in the last quarter of 2023. In second position for this quarter, was postcode 2200, covering Bankstown and surrounds, which wasn’t named among the most popular postcodes at all in Q4 last year.

It’s interesting to see the trends that have emerged in our latest Property Market Update for Q1. Many locations have remained consistent from the end of last year into early 2024. Suburbs like Surfers Paradise on Queensland’s Gold Coast has once again proven to be popular with home buyers, as well as its neighbouring locations of Southport, Pimpama, and Hope Island.
