Gold Coast Top Spot for Property Sales and Prices

New figures show half of Queensland’s top selling suburbs for houses are on the Gold Coast, while Surfer’s Paradise has topped the State for the highest number of unit sales. Sales and conveyancing data recorded by InfoTrack for last quarter confirms the Gold Coast is a property hot spot. InfoTrack’s Head of Property Australia, Lee Bailie said five of the State’s top 10 performing suburbs for volume of house sales were on the Coast.

“Upper Coomera, Pimpama, Helensvale, Burleigh Waters and Broadbeach Waters all made the list for the most number of sales from 1 July to 30 September. These locations also recorded some of the highest aggregated purchases prices for individual suburbs,” Mr Bailie said.

Mr Bailie said the Gold Coast also dominated unit sales.

“Surfer’s Paradise was number one in the State for both sales volume and aggregated purchase price for home units last quarter,” Mr Bailie said. “It’s a continuation of Surfer’s Paradise’s reign. The next most popular location was Far North Queensland’s Port Douglas, with less than half the volume of sales of Surfer’s. Broadbeach, Hope Island, Labrador, and Palm Beach also made into the State’s top 10 for volume of sales and prices.”

In InfoTrack’s Q3 2022 Property Market Update, Mr Bailie predicted home units would continue to be hot property in the coming months.

“Despite interest rate rises, we’ve seen a 3% increase in home unit sales from 15% in the first half of the year to 18% in the last quarter,” he said. “Queensland’s combination of lifestyle, climate, and housing affordability has seen record numbers of southerners move to the Sunshine State, and the Gold Coast’s performance across home unit and house sales last quarter proves its continued popularity.”
