Sydney’s western fringe has traditionally been the stalwart choice for first home buyers looking to get on the property ladder, but some new postcodes have entered the top ten – and they’re a lot closer to the CBD.
Just five kilometres from the Sydney CBD, postcode 2017 is a surprise new entrant on the list of most popular areas for first home buyers – sneaking in at number 10.
The inner-city postcode takes in the suburbs of Waterloo and Zetland.
“This postcode has seen a steady and gradual increase month-to-month since the start of the year, with units the most popular type of property purchased,” InfoTrack’s Head of Property Australia, Lee Bailie, said.
Almost three-quarters of all homes listed in this postcode were within the $500,000 to $1 million price range.
