Innovative technology for Family Lawyers FAQs

General

Yes, the interface can be used across all states and territories in Australia.

Currently, the interface is available to LEAP and Smokeball users, with plans to expand support to other PMS platforms in future. If you do not have LEAP or Smokeball, you can access all of the Estates products through the All Services menu.

There is no cost to access or use the interface itself. Standard product and service fees still apply for any items ordered through the platform.

Yes, the interface is completely flexible. You can choose to use just one feature or access the full suite of tools. However, to experience the full benefit, including reduced manual data entry through data mapping, we recommend using the interface throughout the entire matter.

Yes, you can begin using the interface partway through a matter in LEAP or Smokeball. However, you may not receive the full benefits of data mapping and may need to enter some information manually.

You can continue using any products or services you have already accessed through the interface, as they will still be available in your PMS matter.
Not at this stage, but we are exploring this functionality for future updates.

Client Onboarding and VOI

No. While not mandatory in most scenarios, Verification of Identity is increasingly used to support due diligence in complex, high-value or remote matters and in matters that anticipate a property transfer once final orders are handed down.

Completing VOI is also an important step in you meeting your firm’s AML/CTF obligations.

You simply send a secure link. Your client verifies their identity online in a few easy steps, with no downloads and no in-person meetings required.

No. Branding your client portal is free. You can upload your logo by navigating to Account Settings > Firm Detail in your InfoTrack account.

Financial Disclosure

No, it’s not a one-time disclosure. The workspace remains open and editable for 6 months from the date of order. During this time, clients and lawyers can add, update, or review disclosure documents as needed. If the matter is ongoing, you can renew the workspace for another 6 months.

We connect through our partner Basiq, an accredited data recipient under the Consumer Data Right (CDR). This means Basiq has been approved by the ACCC and has met strict security and compliance requirements. They are the market leaders in open banking integrations, particularly within the fintech space.

Yes! The Financial Disclosure workspace is fully mobile-friendly and designed to work across all devices and screen sizes. In fact, our user data shows that around half of all sessions are completed from mobile phones, making it easy and convenient for clients.

Searches

You can access ASIC, Title, bankruptcy, and other asset-related searches to support your advice, negotiations and court submissions.
Yes. Searches can be completed on multiple individuals or entities to give you a complete picture of your client’s or the other party’s financial position.
Most searches return results instantly or within a few minutes, helping you progress matters without delay.

Court

You can view and download orders, judgments, filed documents and up-to-date Family Court forms, all from one place. By using Family Court Sync, once you sync, these documents get automatically saved to your matter with any new updates.

Yes. You can complete and lodge Family Court forms directly, using prefilled data to reduce manual entry and errors.
You will receive real-time updates when new court documents are filed, so you remain informed without needing to check the portal manually.

Process Serving

You can place an order in seconds, receive an instant quote and track delivery progress in real time.
Yes. We offer a nationwide network of experienced process servers, including regional and remote locations.
Yes. You will receive automatic updates throughout the process and a final record of service, giving you full visibility across the process.

Valuations

Yes. The platform can generate instant property valuations and Redbook vehicle valuations. These reports provide reliable market estimates to help support property and vehicle estimates as required within your family law matter.

You are able to request a quote from one or multiple formal, expert property valuers. The valuer then sends the quote directly to you. All service providers are qualified to complete an expert valuation for the purposes of the Family Law Rules 2021.

Using our expert valuation portal, you can request a quote for retrospective and/or current market valuations of the properties you require a valuation for.

At present, we have partnerships with Preston Rowe Paterson, Opteon, WBP Group, and Herron Todd White. If you have any other providers you’d like to see on our platform, please let us know.

Property Transfer

SettleIT is a digital property transfer and lodgment service that handles the administrative components of property transactions, so you can focus on legal guidance and client care. In the ‘Property Transfer’ step, key tasks like Verification of Identity are triggered automatically when you place your order. Additional tasks include the Client Authorisation Form, Trust Account Authority, Purchaser Declaration (if required), and the Mortgage Discharge Authority Form. If you have already started these tasks under ‘Client Engagement,’ SettleIT will sync the data to avoid duplication with no added cost to you.
SettleIT integrates seamlessly with other tools within the interface, including client engagement and property certificate ordering. Its connection to your practice management system helps streamline the entire process.
Most firms book once the contract becomes unconditional. However, since fees are only charged upon transfer, you can place your order at any time before the unconditional date if preferred.
You can message your file handler directly using the communication tool in the ‘Property Transfer’ step. Important updates will also appear within the same space.
In a Family Law setting, clients typically place their property transfer order with SettleIT once the court order is received, or a financial agreement can be provided. However, as the fee is only deducted upon settlement occurs, you have the flexibility to place your order any time before the unconditional date if preferred.

Payment Accounts

It’s a secure way for lawyers to request and receive payments into their firm’s trust account, and to collect bank details from other parties. This is done all through one secure online portal, without exchanging sensitive account details over email or phone.

Trust Account details are only visible to the party you invite to view and pay. You’re in control of who you invite and share account details with.

Only your firm’s designated admin user. This keeps control of sensitive account details centralised, rather than having account numbers circulated by email or added ad hoc by individual staff.

The InfoTrack Guarantee gives you peace of mind by protecting your clients’ funds for up to A$1,000,000 when trust account details are securely shared within our Trust Accounts product and funds are sent into your Trust Account.

If you have transferred funds using our platform and funds are lost due to third party intervention, we will ensure you get your funds back for up to the value of A$1,000,000 per transaction. InfoTrack reserves the right to withdraw the InfoTrack Guarantee at any time. When making a claim, the decision is at InfoTrack’s discretion.

You send a request through the portal; the party enters their bank details directly and securely, rather than emailing or calling them through to your firm.

Anyone in your Smokeball/LEAP matter card, or any third party you add manually. You’ll need their name, email, and phone number.

Yes, it’s collected and stored through the same secure portal and saved within your matter on LEAP or Smokeball.
