Two new suburbs have made the list of the top 10 most popular locations for First Home Buyers in New South Wales, according to the latest quarterly property report.
InfoTrack’s quarterly Property Market Update found the southern Sydney suburb of Arncliffe and the inner-city suburb of Waterloo recorded some of the highest number of sales for First Home Buyers across the state between 1 April and 30 June. It’s the first time either suburb has made the list this year.
InfoTrack’s Head of Property Australia, Lee Bailie, said the postcode 2205, which includes Arncliffe, Turrella, and Wolli Creek came in at number six. “The growth in interest in this suburb has been quite extraordinary. There were nearly four times the number of sales in the month of June compared to January,” Mr Bailie said. “Around 94 per cent (%) of all properties listed for this postcode were within the $500,000 to $1 million pricing bracket, with properties between $600,000 and $700,000 the most popular.”
Postcode 2017, which features Waterloo and Zetland, snuck in at number 10 for the most popular locations for First Home Buyers. “This postcode has seen a steady and gradual increase month-to-month since the start of the year, with units the most popular type of property purchased,” Mr Bailie said. “Almost three-quarters of all homes listed were within the $500,000 to $1 million price range, and strata owner occupied properties represented 92% of all properties sold in this postcode.”
Mr Bailie said the Property Market Update Q2 2023 showed Sydney’s north-western, western, and south-western suburbs continued to dominate the list for First Home Buyers. “The north-western postcodes of 2765 and 2155, which include Marsden Park and Kellyville were the top two locations, while Westmead, Liverpool, Schofields and Campbelltown were among other popular choices for this buying cohort,” Mr Bailie said.
“Many of these suburbs also featured in last quarter’s report.”
In June, InfoTrack also saw some of the busiest search activity of the year on its InfoTrackGO site, where prospective buyers can order Title Searches and conduct their own research into a property or suburb they’re interested in purchasing.
