A rural town in the Rockhampton region has been named Queensland’s most popular location for house sales in the latest property report.
InfoTrack’s Property Market Update Q3 2023 has named the top 10 locations with the highest volume of house sales from 1 July to 30 September this year, with Gracemere taking out the number one spot.
InfoTrack’s Head of Property Australia, Lee Bailie, said the data confirmed Gracemere’s popularity was here to stay.
“This is the second consecutive quarter Gracemere has appeared in Queensland’s top 10 locations, and it has seen significant growth in the past three months. Gracemere moved from sixth place in Quarter Two to first place last quarter,” Mr Bailie said.
“More than half (52%) of the properties sold during that period had a price range between $300-$400,000 and Gracemere is a popular choice for people wanting bigger properties with greater space to raise a family.
“Its proximity to Rockhampton means an abundance of job opportunities in the agricultural and transport sectors – and the town is home to one of the largest cattle sales facilities in the Southern Hemisphere.”
The data also shows several other regional locations grew in popularity last quarter.
“Our Q3 data shows the suburb of Kirwan, in Townsville, moved from tenth to third place, and Morayfield, in Moreton Bay, moved from ninth to fourth position. Emerald came in at number 10,” Mr Bailie said.
“This quarter also saw the northern Gold Coast suburb of Pimpama make it into the top 10 for the first time, taking out seventh spot.”
Mr Bailie said InfoTrack’s property report revealed Queenslanders prefer to buy houses over apartments.
“For the third quarter in a row, houses have retained their position as the most popular property type in Queensland, with 53% of market share,” he said.
“With house prices continuing to climb in Brisbane and other metropolitan centres, it is understandable more Queenslanders are looking to regional areas to buy property, where they may be able to get greater value for money and flexible working conditions mean they no longer have to commute to the city.”
