4 things you need to know about e-Conveyancing in 2018

Connect 18, e-conveyancing roadshow

In line with e-settlement mandates, quickly approaching across Australia, we provide you with 4 things that you need to know about e-Conveyancing in 2018.

1) Good e-Conveyancing technology should make your job easier.
Going digital should make your life easier. e-Conveyancing tools should provide more than just an electronic version of the manual process; they should also add value to your firm and create real efficiencies. The right technology should simplify processes, save time and provide greater transparency.
2) You need to get integrated if you want to stop re-keying data.
If you’re looking to gain efficiency through e-conceyancing, integration is key. True integration means your practice management system, search platform and e-settlements provider are linked in a seamless workflow. Information from your matter and title pre-populate and flow throughout the conveyance process so that you conveniently only need to enter information once and you’re done. You can stop wasting your time with dreaded double data entry.
3) You don’t have to go completely digital all at once
e-Settlement is the ONLY part of the conveyancing process that is currently being mandated online. Whether you conduct the rest of the conveyance electronically or manually, it is completely YOUR choice. This technology exists to provide choice. It is not meant to be forced upon you. This technology allows you to complete your entire transaction online, but you can combine manual and electronic processes and move online at a pace that works for your firm.
When we ask clients why they haven’t tried electronic contracts yet, they say that it’s because they’re not ready for electronic signing. If you create an electronic contract (eCOS), that doesn’t mean you’re locked in to electronic signing too. You can create an eCOS to benefit from the time savings and then print it off and sign manually just like any other contract. This means you don’t have to go all in at once; you have the freedom to pick and choose depending on what works for you.
4) e-Conveyancing technology will not replace you, it will help you grow your firms
The conveyancing process will always require the analysis, judgment and reasoning of skilled legal & conveyancing professionals. Using technology will simply allow you to perform the manual and administrative tasks more efficiently and accurately. As the property market tightens and the industry becomes more competitive, having the right technology in place will not only free up your time but allow you to add more value into your firm.
