InfoTrack advocates for STEM equality

Women at work

When it comes to the challenges of being female in a largely male-dominated sector, it is integral that companies unite to advocate for equal rights, responsibilities, and opportunities. It is for this reason that InfoTrack has a long-standing relationship with Women in Technology (WiT) the first organisation to bring women from all STEM disciplines, all ages, and all career levels together in a single, inclusive community.

Celebrating 25 years of Women in Technology

In 2022 WiT is celebrating 25 incredible years of operation. Given the advancements and increasing social discourse around gender equality of late, we can often forget that the rights and benefits now afforded to women were not always in place. There were and have been barriers to equality, which given WiT was established in 1997 and has continued to thrive into 2022 – is an astonishing feat for any not-for-profit organisation.

“We were the first organisation to bring women from all STEM disciplines, all ages and all career levels together in a single, inclusive community,” says Lisa Cawthorne, General Manager of Women in Technology in their latest press release. “We empower women to unlock their potential and create a thriving career within STEM by providing opportunities for women to experience a sense of belonging and build meaningful connections; to develop the mindset, confidence and essential skills needed to build a thriving career; and gain the recognition they deserve for their contributions towards advancing research, policy, social and economic development.”

Women in STEM

The STEM Workforce Report 2020, published by the Office of Australia’s Chief Scientist, detailed that women make up:

  • 17% of the STEM workforce
  • 18% of CEO’s
  • 28% of Board Members

Whilst these statistics might sound dire, there is some promising news. The same report found that the female STEM qualified labour force is growing faster than the male STEM qualified labour force.

Our people are the key to our success

As a company that operates within the legal technology space and champions gender equality, InfoTrack is proud to advocate for transformative, systematic, and sustained change. From the latest Workplace Gender Equality Agency Compliance Report, InfoTrack has female representation in:

  • 30% of Executive
  • 43% of all Managers
  • 45% of the overall promotions were women in past 12 months
  • 43% of the total organisation are women

Whilst these figures when compared to the industry averages are positive, continuing to push through gender barriers and providing opportunities for women to develop professionally are key to InfoTrack’s people-first culture. It is for this reason that InfoTrack continues to support organisations like WiT, so that all women within the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics will reap the benefits of systematic change.
