The 3 ways that coffee can benefit your office

The benefits of coffee in the office

As many of us know, caffeine is a stimulant and a pretty powerful one at that. That’s why we always feel half asleep in the mornings until we have that big, steaming cup o’ Joe. So the obvious benefit of having an office coffee machine is to give your employees a much-needed perk up on a Monday morning, but that’s not all! There’s actually much, much more to coffee than meets the eye.

Here are three ways that coffee can benefit your employees, and your business:

 1.      Boost Health

Coffee as a ‘healthy’ beverage is considered to be somewhat of a controversial topic, but we can’t ignore the many research studies which have found huge physiological advantages to regular coffee consumption. Experts claim coffee can significantly minimise the risk of developing thrombosis, reduce the likelihood of cardiovascular disease, and actually protect the mind from deterioration. A healthy workforce is a happy workforce and a productive workforce.

2.      Gain Valuable Feedback

One of the easiest and most effective ways to maximise employee engagement is to create a ‘safe space’; a more relaxed, more informal part of the workplace where employees are provided with an opportunity to express their feelings, put forward ideas, and air concerns away from the formality of the office.  There are two great ways to do this: through implementing ‘walk and talk’ meetings, or through a welcoming coffee break area. These caffeinated safe spaces allow managers to benefit from employee feedback, enabling them to tailor their processes and ensure complete employee satisfaction.

3.      Improve Engagement, Productivity, and Satisfaction

Your coffee station can do much more than simply perk someone up; it can actively encourage great ideas and promote workplace productivity. Experts claim coffee breaks can boost productivity significantly, whilst simultaneously encouraging creative and innovative thinking. Coffee breaks give employees a chance to take a step away from their tasks and look at their work from a new perspective. It’s the same concept as ‘shower thoughts’—alternative ways of thinking that are only accessible when you step back and break away from the ordinary.

What are you waiting for?

Employee engagement and satisfaction is at the core of any good workplace culture, and it’s something that you have to constantly cultivate. Encouraging use of a communal space, whether it be a designated coffee spot, or chill out area, could be your secret weapon for improving employee morale and making your office a great place to work!
