Bradley & Bray: a local firm that exemplifies success

Bradley & Bray proudly stands as a Sunshine Coast law firm, immediately evident from a quick glance through their website homepage, their active social media presence, or the slew of regional and national awards they have earned. With almost fifty years of experience, tracing its origins back to AG Bradley and Associates in 1976, Bradley & Bray has deep roots within the local community.

Now in its current form, Bradley & Bray can’t just be pigeonholed as a boutique law firm on the coast. In their own words, they strive to make, “…significant progress as a firm, emerging as an award-winning, technology-driven leader.” All of which they are achieving whilst staying true to their origins and localised values.

We recently spoke with Bridie Edwards, Associate Director, and a Lawyer in the Commercial Law team at Bradley & Bray, who joined the firm in 2019. As an integral member of the leadership team, Bridie is active in managing the firm to ensure clients receive first-class service without losing the personal touch of a local firm.

Bradley & Bray are very active within the local Sunshine Coast community, why do you think this is important for the firm?

In our position as a law firm that has served the local community for nearly 50 years, and subsequent generations of families within it, we see it as a moral and ethical obligation to contribute to the well-being of the community in which we operate – essentially to do our bit to foster and maintain a harmonious community. We feel privileged to be in a position where we can contribute to the specific causes we care about, and to help address problems that affect all those who reside in this magnificent corner of Australia. We see it as a way for us to give back to those that have supported us over the years, fostering trust and goodwill among community members and preserving our positive reputation.

You’ve been involved in a number of local Sunshine Coast charity events, like the Wishlist (Sunshine Coast Health Foundation) and Sunshine Coast Law Association’s Charity Golf Day, to name a few. Why is it important to you to have a presence at events like these?

This involvement is profoundly significant to us as it aligns with our core values of giving back to the community. We recognise the importance of supporting vital causes and initiatives that improve the lives of those in our community. By taking time out of our busy lives to attend these events, our active participation serves as a platform to raise awareness about these charitable endeavours. With a substantial client base and a considerable presence on various social media platforms, we have the opportunity to amplify the impact of these events by showcasing our involvement. By leveraging our reach in this way, we hope to inspire others to get involved and contribute to these worthy causes.

Your firm was recently recognised as a finalist in the Sunshine Coast Business Awards in the Professional Services category. How important is it for you and the team to have this acknowledgement on a local scale?

The recognition of Bradley & Bray as a finalist in the renowned Sunshine Coast Business Awards is of great significance to us. Whilst we’ve received multiple accolades within the legal industry, this particular recognition transcends our legal expertise – so it highlights that not only do we strive for excellence in the legal sphere but that we’re dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the broader Professional Services community on the Sunshine Coast.

The result of receiving this award has multiple effects. It serves to enhance our firm’s credibility and reputation in the Sunshine Coast community, setting us apart from competitors and further building trust among clients. It boosts team morale, demonstrating to our staff the value of their hard work and dedication. Additionally, it provides greater networking opportunities, increases visibility, and signifies prestige, which can open doors to new opportunities and collaborations in the professional services industry among colleagues and referrers. Ultimately, this recognition not only validates the firm’s excellence but also paves the way for further growth and success in the region.

Bradley & Bray recently acquired its third law firm in three years on the Sunshine Coast, now adding a Maroochydore office into its portfolio of locations. How important is it for the team to have that added presence amongst its existing locations?

Whilst we service clients throughout the Sunshine Coast and beyond, we want to move past any perceptions that we only operate in the Hinterland region. By diversifying our locations, Bradley & Bray can challenge such perceptions and showcase our commitment to serving clients throughout the entire Sunshine Coast region.

Additionally, the office in Maroochydore not only provides more convenient options for our clients but will help us gain a deeper understanding of the legal needs and challenges specific to that area. This local expertise can be invaluable when serving clients in the region.

Lastly, we expect that by having a presence in a key business and population centre like Maroochydore and having acquired a law firm that practiced solely in Business & Commercial Law, that we can tap into a larger client base and access new opportunities for growth as well as providing more comprehensive services to that client base.
