Gold Coast has reinforced its position as Queensland’s leading hub for unit sales, claiming six of the state’s top 10 suburbs, including the first five outright.
New data from InfoTrack’s latest Property Market Update, analysing sales activity from 1 April to 30 June 2026, shows unit sales across Queensland fell 37.8 per cent in the second quarter of 2026, a sharp pullback in overall volumes.
Even as sales activity fell broadly, the Gold Coast’s dominance held, a sign that buyer demand hasn’t disappeared so much as concentrated into a smaller number of high-conviction locations.
Surfers Paradise retained the number one spot for the fifth consecutive quarter, while Broadbeach surged from ninth position in Q1 2026 to second place. It was followed by Robina in third, Main Beach in fourth and Southport in fifth.
InfoTrack Chief Operating Officer, Lee Bailie, said Surfers Paradise continued to lead the state’s apartment market despite increased competition across coastal and inner-city precincts.
“Surfers Paradise has consistently set the pace for unit sales across Queensland, and it has maintained that position for five consecutive quarters,” Mr Bailie said.
“While we have seen movement in rankings across other suburbs, the Gold Coast remains the clear centre of gravity for apartment demand in the state.”
Robina’s rise into third position marks its first appearance in the unit sales mix, despite regularly featuring among leading suburbs for house sales, while Coomera also debuted in eighth position.
Mr Bailie said this shift reflects growing demand for apartment living in established lifestyle hubs.
“The entry of Robina and Coomera among the most active areas for unit sales highlights how buyer demand is broadening beyond traditional beachfront precincts. In many cases, this reflects buyers looking for more affordable entry points into well-connected lifestyle suburbs,” he said.
“This shift coincides with the recent announcement of the Lakeside Robina development, which will ultimately deliver around 2,500 new homes and connect residents to amenities and community infrastructure.”
Inner-city Brisbane suburbs remained popular with buyers with Brisbane City in sixth position, West End at seventh, and Fortitude Valley remaining in tenth.
Maroochydore was the only Sunshine Coast suburb to make the list, although it slipped from third to ninth position.
