Philip Argy

Philip Argy is an experienced commercial mediator and arbitrator specialising in technology among numerous other fields. Philip was involved in drafting the Electronic Transactions Act and chairs both the Law Society of NSW Legal Technology Committee and the Law Council of Australia’s National Electronic Conveyancing System Committee. He chaired Mallesons Technology & Information Committee for many years and often provides legal and technical advice on the provision and installation of information and communications technology.

Philip is an advocate of integrating technology into the modern firm and will discuss the role new technology can play in every practitioner’s business. He delved into the benefits of adopting new technology including lowering costs, reducing risk, and increasing efficiency, profitably and client loyalty.

Claire Martin

Solicitor at Kreisson

Claire Martin recently made history by completing the first fully digital conveyance of a residential property in Australia.
Starting out as a Law Clerk in 2000, Claire has effected thousands of settlements providing extensive knowledge in the conveyancing process. In addition to heading the property department at Kreisson, Claire is vice-chair of the NSW Law Society Young Lawyers Property Law Committee and recently completed her Masters in Property Law, producing her thesis titled: "The impact of technology on conveyancing".

Russell Cocks

Lawyer, Mentor, Author & Lecturer

Russell Cocks is a renowned lawyer, author and lecturer, specialising in all aspects of property law and conveyancing. He authored the Law Institute’s Ethics Handbook and writes a monthly Property Law column in the Law Institute Journal. After 13 years of private practice as a solicitor, Russell joined the Law Institute of Victoria as a Research Solicitor for 4 years before establishing the Solicitors Information Service in 1993. He lectured at Deakin University in Property for 10 years and Legal Ethics for 7 years.

Liz Chase

Liz has property law experience from within several of Australia’s leading law firms and has acquired expert knowledge across both residential and commercial transactions. She has settled over 2000 properties and drafted off the plan contracts for some of Melbourne’s biggest developers. She is one of the first practitioners in Victoria to have electronically prepared and signed a Section 32 Vendor Statement. 

Lyndal Turner Guy

Lyndal was admitted in 2001 and practices almost exclusively in property law, obtaining specialist accreditation in 2013. She is a Committee Member of the National Electronic Conveyancing Committee of the Law Council, a group of practitioners tasked with negotiating with ARNECC and PEXA the subscriber agreement, model participation rules, service charter and other documents underpinning interaction in the electronic property exchange.  

David Jones

David Jones routinely advises clients on structured property, hotels and resorts and general commercial property transactions. David coordinates multi-practice and multi-jurisdictional teams for major onshore and offshore sales, restructuring and acquisitions in each of these sectors. He is also often instructed as an adviser to government and quasi-government institutions, and on the property aspects of large scale corporate mergers and acquisition deals.

David is the head of the Commercial Real Estate Group in the Firm’s Sydney office, and currently serves as a member of our Asia Pacific Structured Real Estate Steering Committee.
